Some of the older part numbers have been replaced or superseded by different, updated part numbers, but many of those are also out of production and unavailable. It’s convenient and easy to use, but the latch mechanism can be problematic. The most common issue involves the ‘J’ hook latches on either side of the convertible top header. The ‘J’ hooks themselves are quite sturdy, but the weak point is the small ‘pivot ...After owning two 1950"s vintage Thunderbirds some years back this 2002 version is indeed a pleasure to own and drive. It rides well due to the longer wheelbase, has air bags for safety, handles very well, gets decent gas mileage, and turns a lot of heads.
