I got 0 red box so I was wondering if there’s an easier way to farm the umbral energy than by doing the event over and over. In the same boat, all that umbral just for zero red frame Austringer. It is probably more efficient if you only care about opulent weapons but if you want to get the haunted patterns as well it's way less efficient as you'll still need to run containment after. For context I personally only need 1 more red opulent drop compared to 4 haunted and I've never farmed chests.

The public event takes way too long IMO and it doesn’t even guarantee a key every time. You can get them from the random chests you can find in the Royal Pools and Pleasure Garden areas.
