The department is not directly involved with admitting students to Ohio State. Pre-Majors. Students new to OSU are not directly admitted to major status. Instead, they are admitted as pre-majors (pre-CSE, pre-CIS) and apply to enter the major after specific pre-requisite coursework has been completed. Pre-CSECons (CSE):You're not actually considered an engineer by anybody other than ABET. Have to take more rigorous classes. Pros (CIS): Don't have to take as any ECE classes, linear algebra,1181 and 1182. Cons (CIS): You're not an "engineer". Can't apply to most government jobs and decent amount of scholarships.
