Kansas’ Broadband Acceleration Grant program is a ten-year, $85 million program supporting the deployment of broadband service to Kansas communities. It is administered by the Kansas Office of Broadband Development, and funded through the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program.The Office of Broadband Development will be housed in the Kansas Department of Commerce and led by Stanley Adams, current Director of Broadband Initiatives for the Department of Commerce. “Broadband is one of our state’s greatest economic development tools,” Stanley Adams, Director of the Office of Broadband Development, said.Kansas contains no deserts as scientifically defined as barren areas with little rainfall.
