I know resetting Excavations is a bad thing, but when I reach a certain level, reincarnating for reset will be detrimental. I need 40 artifacts to unlock a research and I need another artifact, unfortunately the artifacts require you NOT to reincarnate or even abidcate, well except the Drow Flame Artifact for unlocking slots HOWEVER I very much I want to try and get that one.There's an option to Reset Excavation. I am told that I can do it once, but further resets come with penalties. Is the free reset once ever, or once per abdication, per reincarnation, etc.?

The excavation icon doesn't have a 1. I thought maybe there was an excavation requirement, but 500 excavations didn't do the trick. A0R12, if that changes anything. My main question is: are the rubies you get from excavations exhaustible? Should I reset the excavation to farm more of them, or they are "gone" for good after you get them the first time? Also, if you unlocked and bought the dwarves/drow already, will they temporarily disappear if you reset the archeology team?which is the best build to achieve MAX excavations ?
