Based on the literature reviewed, we conclude that cognitive intervention studies using virtual tools have been effective in improving cognitive functions in both healthy older adults and MCI patients. However, retention of such improvements over long term (e.g., months after completion of the training) has not been thoroughly investigated.The intervention of the study was a hearing-voices simulation package and role-play activities developed by one of the researchers. It consisted of 1) an orientation to the hearing voices package, 2) participation in the simulation, 3) participation in role-plays, 4) a debriefing session and, finally, 5) written surveys.Group therapy is a form of treatment in which emotionally disturbed persons are placed in a group, guided by one or more therapists for the purpose of helping individuals to bring a change in them.
