'Inorodtsy,' those who were born different. In addition to foreigners, Russia had many indigenous inhabitants who were called inorodtsy because of their different ethnicity - these were Bashkirs, Kirghiz, Kalmyks, Samoyeds, Buryats, Yakuts, Chukchis and others.
