Big and bad, the Marlin 1895 in .45-70 (two American classics in one package) deliver the goods to whatever you want seriously hurt on the other end. The main push to change came from the returning Doughboys, who had had exposure to the bolt-action rifle during their sojourn into The Great War.Just like all platforms, lever action rifles have their upsides and their downsides. I’m still exploring this pistol caliber setup, but I’m looking forward to my first .45-70 purchase in the new Marlin 1895 Dark. I’d like to hear from those who have suppressed leverguns in the past.
