Is there any way to verify that this is correct. I have two other colt pythons - one from 1978 and one from 1979 - both bright nickel. I would really appreciate any information that can be given that the e-nickel finish is correct. Thank you in advance your kind attention in this mattet. Jun 10, 2014 · Whatever you do don't use jewelers rouge. I've used it to polish knife blades after hand forging them but it's way too abrasive to use on a nickel finish (jewelers rouge leaves a matte finish on knife blades, not a fine mirror finish like a nickel gun). Hand polishing w/ Flitz or something similar is the only way. Shiny nickel guns are very corrosion resistant if the finish is undamaged. Trouble is its pretty easy to damage if treated like other guns. Nickel plating is applied over a copper plating. Bore solvents such as the old tried and true hoppes remove copper. Many claim it's fine to use any cleaner you wish ,just be sure to remove all of it. ….
