My application centered on clinical experience and I aimed for mid/low-tier MD schools (IS/OOS friendly) and DO schools I was interested in attending. If your parents or even relatives lived somewhere near a med school with mediocre OOS acceptance I would apply. Here are some public OOS friendly options: Wayne State, Iowa, Stony Brook, Downstate, Ohio State, UVM, VCU, EVMS, USF, Cincinnati.

Off the top of my head, some usual OOS schools are VCU, EVMS, NYMC, Albany, Creighton, Medical College of Wisconsin, Penn state, Loma Linda, U Miami, Wake Forest.Look at the right most column for matriculation rates. I would consider a school OOS friendly if it's around 20% + OOS matriculation rates. On that note, apply to NYMC, Stony Brook, SUNY Downstate, SUNY Buffalo maybe, Albany, penn state, saint Louis University..It is very difficult for OOS applicants to be accepted to Texas schools because Texas has a law requiring 90% of of med school spots to go to Texas residents. I recommend some of the low-yield, less stats-focused schools like Tulane, Drexel, NYMC, Georgetown, SLU, etc. If you have lots of non-clinical volunteering, as you said, I would especially look at Loyola Stritch and Rush! You could apply to both if you want to (I don’t think UW has a secondary fee) try, but don’t bank on either of those schools.
