Wish there was a visitor center and way to get close to the formation instead of from the road. Certainly worth the drive down from Shiprock (town) to see. Other beautiful formations are nearby too.

Point of Rocks, named by the Spanish Cerros del Perrillo , is a 5,115 foot / 1,559 meter summit and the name of a range of hills of which the summit is the highest. [1] The summit and the hills are in the Jornada del Muerto plateau, mostly in Sierra County, New Mexico. The southernmost part of the hills are within Doña Ana County, New Mexico.[1]This is a basic park with campsites. Some have water and electric hookups but most are basic campsites among the natural boulders in the park. It is a unique area that was created by volcanic activity and then by wind and rain.
