Quickload thinks that is 87,000 psi 1900 fps. I started the work up with 15 gr 25 kpsi 1300 fps. I think Unique is a very good powder for 45/70 low velocities.

The long range load for my C Sharps 45-70 is 27 grains of 5744 under a Lyman 457125 which weighs 525 in 20/1. My mold has been lapped to drop at .459". My Sharps likes boolits seated to touch the lands (2.95" LOA). 25-28 grains of 5744 should get you in the 1200-1300fps range. Hornady 350 FN RL-7 50.5gr 2010fps Starline cases WLR primers COL 2.550. This Velocity is from a 1895GS (18.5 inch barrel) at about 12 feet.Have a .45-70 revolver with a 10 inch barrel. Those powders are pushing the slow end of utility for the 45-70. X-Terminator is a better suited powder. Although suitable loads for the 45-70 could be developed with TAC, it is evident that the two sources I know of chose X-Terminator to develop loads for the 45-70.
