There really isn't any way to completely prevent infestations, you just have to be prepared for when they inevitably happen every few days or months, the same with deep drilling. I think it's mostly a pathfinding issue. Caves usually work as shortcuts since the terrain is easier to move on, so attacking raiders will often path through them. Since the insects are not hostile until you get near them, they don't consider them a threat until it's too late.Infestation of any size are extremely hard to deal with when they are right in the middle of your base. However, if you can control where they spawn it is easy. Don't build doors like I did, just use walls all the way. I was scared at the end there because I thought they were about to break out, but since they haven'...infestations will apear not where u have fortified but under overhead mountains and have a higher chance of apearing in dark areas deeper in the mountain so if u build a large walled off mine deep in mountain and use some animals as a wall they can be dealt with fairly easily. #3. Your options are to fill all overhead mountain tiles to prevent them from spawning alltogether, lower the tempature to i believe -20C to prevent them from spawning, or if its in a cave you mined out, put some wooden floors …As I understand it, you would need to lower the temperature to under -17C for every tile with the roof type "overhead mountain" to prevent infestations.
