At first the HD599 sounded way too warm, muffled compared to the brightness more detail oriented shp9500. I got a Fiio K3 and seemed to clear up the muddiness of the HD599 and now that my ears have adjusted I find the SHP9500 too bright and fatiguing on my ears.
