I made this smitty sled with remnant 2x4 and 6x2's with maybe $5 of nuts and bolts. It pulls apart and 4 inch bolts stick out of the bottom of the 2x4's. I drilled holes in the top of the 2x6's. The 2x4's just drop into place in the aformentioned holes and are held by gravity/friction.

I made the skis from .25" HDPE with 3/8" baltic birch to make it ridged yet still flexible, 1" aluminum riser frame welded, riser to ski is 2" HDPE drilled at an angle for the tube. The deck is 3/8" Mahogany with 3/8" oak cross support. The deck is attached to the tube using clamps we use in the lighting business.I built a smitty sled with some real lightweight compsit k2 skis we had in the garage. Built the frame out of scap 2x2's and 1x4's to try to keep weight to a minimum. Used a bread rack and one roof rack cut in half to carry the tackle, flashers, and misc. stuff on the back end.
